The Quaker is a national undergraduate journal of literary art published by the Student Writers Guild and the Program in Creative Writing at Malone University in Canton, Ohio. 

We seek submissions of poetry, fiction, essays, reviews—of good writing in any and all forms. 

Publication occurs on a rolling basis, and each semester one author is chosen to be honored with a $100 Editor's Prize for an outstanding contribution to the journal.

We will award $100 prizes in 3 categories—poetry, fiction, and non-fiction—plus $50 honorable mentions in each category. The Award Ceremony will be on Wednesday, April 5th.

  • Prose pieces should not exceed 20 pages and must be double spaced. You may enter 3 flash fictions or 3 micro-essays (1500 words max each), also in a single file.
